How to show up on Google Maps.

When someone searches for a plumber or roofer near them, the map results at the top come from Google Business Profiles. Showing up there starts with setting yours up properly.

Claim and verify your profile

Search for your business on Google. If a profile exists, claim it; if not, create one. Google will verify that you own the business before your profile shows fully.

If you work at customers' homes rather than a shop, you can hide your address and list the areas you serve instead.

Choose the right categories

Your primary category matters most. Pick the one that best describes your main work, then add secondary categories for the other services you offer.

Fill in everything

Hours, services, service areas, a description and your website link. A complete profile gives Google more to match against searches, and gives customers fewer reasons to move on.

Add real photos, regularly

Photos of your work, your truck and your team show you are real and active. Adding new ones over time keeps the profile fresh.

Keep your facts consistent

Your name, phone and address should match exactly on your website, your profile and directory listings. Mismatches confuse Google about which listing is the real you.

Reviews help

Reviews are part of how Google decides which businesses to show on the map. A steady flow of genuine reviews, with your replies, helps both your ranking and your chances of getting the call.
