Do I need a website if I already have a Facebook page?

A Facebook page is a good start, and plenty of businesses get work from it. But it is not a replacement for a website, for a few practical reasons.

You do not control it

Facebook decides who sees your posts, what your page looks like and whether your account stays up. A website is yours. Nobody can change the rules on you or lock you out.

Many customers never open Facebook to find a contractor

When a pipe bursts or the AC quits, people search Google or ask a voice assistant. They are looking for a business with a clear website, a phone number and reviews, not scrolling a social feed.

A website gives search engines and AI assistants something solid to read about your business: what you do, where you work and how to reach you.

It looks more established

For bigger jobs, customers check you out before they call. A real website with your own work on it signals that you are a serious business that will still be around next year.

Use both

Keep posting on Facebook. Link it to your website, and link your website back to it. Facebook keeps past customers in touch; the website catches the people searching for you right now.
